DPMM FC Eye Golden Opportunity
By Dannie Abu Basrah

Bandar Seri Begawan - After only collecting two points out of a possible six in the previous two matches, there will be no excuse for Ranko's men as Brunei DPMM FC are expected to salvage maximum points tonight when they entertain bottom-of the-table Pulau Pinang NTFA at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. Pulau Pinang NTFA are still yet to get their first point of the 2005/2006 Malaysian Premier League Group A campaign.

Brunei DPMM FC comes into thematch with two successive 1-1 draws, first in the season opener to Terengganu at home followed by the away match to Johor at the Larkin Stadium. Meanwhile for the visitors, Pulau Pinang NTFA are finding life a bit tougher earlier in the season after they stumbled to a 4-1 defeat in the hands of Kelantan on the opening day that was later followed by a 3-1 home defeat to Perak UPB.

With the visitors' morale down, this proves to be the right opportunity for Brunei DPMM FC to get their first three points of the season and also the chance to inflict further damage to Pulau Pinang NTFA's season start, with Brunei DPMM FC strengthened by the fact of playing on home soil.

Victory should very well place Brunei DPMM FC back on Ranko's track as the coach. Before the beginning of the season, Ranko had stressed the importance of his team getting off to a good start in determining a season's success. For tonight's game he still has the luxury of fielding his first eleven players.

With all the players proving fit and available for the match, now all that matters for. Brunei DPMM FC is to make things right with a win and instantly build on their previous performance after dropping four points from the possible six.

New signing Antonio Lombardo Tosi proved to be vital and impressive in the last two matches, scoring both goals, but it apparently wasn't enough for the team to get a win.

Therefore Brunei DPMM FC needs to diversify their goal source apart from the Brazilian in order to bring the game to the opponents.

Meanwhile in other matches, it will be the top of the table clash in Kuching as leaders Sarawak host second placed Johor with both teams tied on four points, while the Perak Stadium too will witness another close contest as 4th placed Perak entertain Kelantan who are currently in 5th As for Kedah who previously bounced back to a 30 win from an opening 4-2 defeat to Sarawak, they will certainly be hoping to prevent another disappointment as they travel to the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium to take on Terengganu. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
