Overseas Chinese Taipei Association Orginizes Singing Contest

Bandar Seri Begawan - In conjunction with the 28th anniversary of Overseas Chinese Taipei Association, the Chinese Singing competition was held for the first time recently at the Big Thumb restaurant in Jalan Gadong.

Present as the chief guest was former Brunei-Muara District Officer, Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Kassim with his wife.

Also present was Pehin Wong Teck Foo, officer from the Chinese Embassy and Permanent Advisor of the Association.

Miss Chang Soo Fong emerged as the champion in the women's category while Mr Meng Hai was the champion in the men's category. Both winners received a trophy and cash prize of B$300 each from the chief guest.

The response to the competition was very encouraging, said the association's President, Mr Lim Tiong Tin.

The contest was participated by 20 females and 20 males. It divided into two categories of age 35 and above. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
