Shedding Light On Optimal Electricity Conservation

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Department of Electrical Services (DES), ASEAN Centre for Energy, and the Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ) - among others - yesterday held an energy audit on the promotion of energy efficiency and conservation at the Kingston Beverage and Creamery Sdn Bhd Plant.

ECCJ Technical Experts Hisashi Amano, Hideyuki Tanaka and Fumio Ogawa - who were led by Plant Manager Albert K G Lim toured the factory, witnessing the various manufacturing processes.

The Japanese trio is on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, JapanASEAN on the Promotion on Energy Efficiency and Conservation (METI-ASEAN PROMEEC) mission.

They last audited a paper and palm company as well as a-textile firm in Indonesia. They also held a seminar and workshop recently.

The METI-ASEAN PROMEEC project covers the areas of Industry, Building and Technology Management, which started in 2004.

Heading the audit team was DES Head of Energy Division Hj Abd Shawal bin Yaman.

Prior to the tour, a briefing was delivered by Kingston Beverage and Creamery General Manager Valentine Hon and Plant Manager Albert K.G Lim on the company's profile among others.

The audit team would offer pointers, lend their expertise and promote energy efficiency initiatives on how to conserve electricity optimally.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
