NDP Holds Thanksgiving For Member
Departing For Mecca

Begawan - A thanksgiving ceremony was held at Limbaruh Hijau in
Jerudong yesterday afternoon for a member of the National Development
Party (NDP) who will be departing for Mecca this evening to perform
Haj. Pg Hj Emran-Pg Hj Bugal and his wife will be joining some 2.5
million pilgrims worldwide for the annual mass gathering.
At the ceremony, he also received
donations from the party, delivered by its president, Yasin Affandy.
A doa selamat, to seek blessings from
Allah towards a safe passage, was read by NDP deputy secretary general
Hj Abd Majid bin Hj Abd Hamid.
The event was also attended by NDP
secretary general Hj Aminorashid Hj Ghazali, vice president for Seria
and Kuala Belait branch Sulaiman Metarshad, and heads of bureaus and
NDP members.
More than 900 local pilgrims
performing Haj this year will leave the country for Mecca on one of
four flights by national carrier Royal Brunei Airlines.
The first flight will leave today
while the second flight on December 20, and third and fourth, December
22 and December 25.
Among the intending Haj pilgrims are
the appointed medical team members from the Ministry of Health.
The ministry will also be providing
medical services for local pilgrims while six medical officers, 19
nurses and a paramedic team are currently stationed in Mecca and
Medinah.
Ten medical officers and three
officers from the Haj Management Department left the country for Mecca
on December 7 for initial preparations at the clinics and medical
wards in Mecca and Medinah, to ensure that all medicines and medical
logistics such as transportation and ambulance are arranged
accordingly.
Intending pilgrims are, meanwhile,
told to look after their health and advised to keep to a well-balanced
diet. --
