Donations For Needy Family

Bandar Seri Begawan - The family of Awg Abdul Bahrin bin Haji Dullah yesterday received a total of $11,800 cash donation from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) as well as from the Community Affairs Development Department (JAPEM) and Islamic Religious Council.

Awg Abdul Bahrin and family lost their house and most of their belongings after their house collapsed due to soil erosion early this month at Kampung Setia `B'. They had lived in the house for three years before it collapsed.

YSHHB, in its press release stated that one of the welfare purposes is to provide an assistance scheme to victims of natural disasters. YSHHB also stated that with the donation, it is hoped to lessen the burden of the family.

Two other government agencies, JAPEM and the Islamic Religious Council have also been very attentive towards those who are in need of help.

The handing over of donation ceremony took place at the residence of Kampung Setia `B' village chief in Kampung Setia `B', Mukim Sungai Kebun.

The donation was presented by Awg Abdul Bahrin by YM Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim bin Haji Daud, Managing Director of YSHHB, Datin Hjh Adina binte Hj Othman, Director of JAPEM and Pengiran Hj Bahrom bin Pengiran Hj Bahar, Secretary of the Islamic Religious Council.

YSHHB donated $5,000, while JAPEM and Islamic Religious Council donated $5,000 and $1,800 respectively. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
