Parking Woes At RIPAS
By Jon Tampoi

Bandar Seri Begawan – The parking area at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital has always been a problem to the medical institution.

The availability of parking space is so less that most car owners who need medical attention have difficulties in finding places to park.

Some even have to park as far as a mile outside the compound of the hospital.

Due to this problem, some car owners park at restricted zones or park illegally blocking other vehicles.

The parking woes go further than just parking at undesignated places but also lead to narrowing of lanes due to parking of cars on both sides of the road. People also park their cars on grass and cause mud patches around the hospital.

Most car owners and those who work at the hospital apparently have no choice but to park at illegal places.

The relevant authorities are urged to rectify the problem as soon as possible.

One car owner said the architects who built the car park for the hospital did not take into consideration the growth of patients and car numbers. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
