Two Fake $500 Notes Discovered

Begawan – Two fake $500 notes were detected by police last
week, the police said in their report yesterday and last Thursday.
Between 21-29 November, nine similar
notes issued in 1989 were detected, resulting in the police advising
the public especially retailers and supermarket operators to be
cautious.
Meanwhile, the police revealed six
theft cases last week at an office in Gadong, in Tasek Meradun, a
workshop in Kg. Lalit, Municipal Department flat in JIn Sinarubai, Kg.
Rimba national housing area and at BSP headquarters. Items stolen were
a
handphone
set, six scaffolding steel, two car tyres, two gas cylinders and a
computer laptop. One man was detained.
Three cases of theft inside a
building were also recorded at The Mall in Gadong, airport cargo and
in Kg. Tanah Jambu. Items lost were 20 handphone sets, a Twin Head
laptop, a DVD player and jewellery. One man was detained.
Also recorded were an attempted theft
case, an attempted fraud case, a case of impersonating as a government
officer, a case of causing injury to a person and four vandalism
cases.
Other violations included an offence
under Islamic Religious Act, one under the Customs Act and one
immigration case. --
