Baiduri Bank Launches Secrurity
Control Centre
By Achong Tanjong
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Baiduri Bank yesterday launched its new Security
Control Centre, which is located at the bank's head office in Kiarong.
The centre is equipped with state-of-the-art surveillance system with
24-hour real-time monitoring and digital video recording capability.
It employs the most advanced security
technology and is the only fully-fledged security control centre
operated by a bank in Brunei.
The centre was officially launched by
the guest of honour, Pehin Datu Kerma Setia Dato Paduka Seri Zainuddin
bin Jalani, Commissioner of Police. Also present at the event were
senior police officers and senior management members from Baiduri
Bank.
Mr. Pierre Imhof, General Manager of
Baiduri Bank, commenting on the major initiative by the bank said, "It
is our commitment to maintain a safe and secure environment for both
customers and staff. With the advent of new threats and increasingly
sophisticated crimes, physical security is one area we cannot afford
to compromise. This is the main reason why we have decided to
establish an inhouse Security Control Centre to maintain the best
control and to ensure quality security management at all times.
"By investing in the latest security
monitoring and access control systems, we are able to deter crimes
such as theft, robbery and burglary, as well as to ensure fast
response time in cases of emergency. It also enables us to work more
closely with law enforcement agencies such as the Royal Brunei Police
Force, to protect the safety of our customers and members of the
public," said Mr. Imhof.
He added that the Baiduri Bank
Security Control Centre was established to support the daily banking
operations, especially in the area of physical security. It is
responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the bank's
premises and document storage facilities, as well as during cash
management operations such as cash transportation and ATM
replenishment. The centre is manned by a team of security controllers
on 24-hour shifts.
In addition to rigorous monitoring
from the Central Monitoring Station housed within the centre, the
security controllers also perform mobile patrol around the bank's
premises and offsite ATM locations on a frequent basis. Currently,
more than 200 security cameras have been installed at the bank's key
departments, branch and ATM locations, with more to be installed in
the months ahead, he said. Other vital defence points include the
intruder alarm and fire alarm system.
The Baiduri Bank Security Control
Centre also organises security courses and workshops for the bank
staff, such as training on fire safety and prevention, first aid,
crisis handling and emergency evacuation procedure, amongst others.
In the area of security management,
Baiduri Bank adopts a holistic approach to ensure that all aspects of
the organisation's physical access, system and network security are
maintained at a high level and seamlessly integrated to operate within
a strong infrastructure. Baiduri Bank places high priority on IT and
electronic security by making proactive efforts to mitigate the risk
of fraud. This is evident from recent initiatives such as the
introduction of dual-factor authentication for Internet banking
services. --
