By Azlan Othman

Bandar Seri Begawan – A 38-year-old Bruneian has been arrested by officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau and 150.5 grammes of crystal granules believed to be 'Syabu' were confiscated.

The local man, believed to be trafficking the Class `A' controlled drug, scientifically known as Methylamphetamine, was detained on December 10 at around 11.35pm in Kg. Ayer.

He was apprehended as a result of surveillance carried out by the Bureau following a tip-off from the public.

The Bureau also conducted a major operation and detained several boat operators believed to be involved in the misuse of drugs.

The objective of the operation was to control and wipe out the misuse of drug activities in Kg. Ayer.

The Bureau thanked the public for its support and cooperation in providing information and assistance.

The Bureau again reminded the public that trafficking of controlled drugs in Brunei carries the death penalty. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
