Brunei SYC 2005 Students Off To Singapore

Bandar Seri Begawan - Ten secondary-six students, five boys and five girls, left for Singapore on Saturday to join other pre-university students in the Sunburst Youth Camp (SYC) 2005 on Dec 9-16, 2005.

Sending them off at the Brunei International Airport were MOE officer Pg Hj Idris bin Pg Hj Bakar, representing the Director of Schools, parents, teachers and friends.

The delegates, who are among the best students in the Sultanate, will meet fellow students in Singapore, it was learned.

The SYC Camp is a fully sponsored programme and is part of the Singapore Technology Endowment Programme (STEP). It aims to support educational opportunities for youths and children in different regions.

It will be a rewarding programme for the student's educational and personal experience. They will mix and mingle, share ideas and exchange understanding and forge long-last friendships and networks with other foreign students.

The students will be divided and share rooms with fellow students, make educational visits to various institutions in Singapore, participate in educational adventure, perform cultural dances and make a presentation on Brunei.

During the cultural night, the students will show their best of Brunei's own cultural dances, choreographed by their accompanying teacher, Cikgu Syed Rozman bin Hj Syed Abdul Rahim.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
