Signing Ceremony For
Apprenticeship Scheme

Begawan - In a landmark signing ceremony, two automotive and
services related companies joined an apprenticeship training scheme,
which will see 12 apprentices from Sultan Bolkiah Vocational School
take part in the programme.
Sri Sentosa Sdn Bhd and Aziz Latif &
Company signed an agreement to join the Apprenticeship Training scheme
with the Department of Technical Education. The agreement was signed
yesterday morning at the department's premises.
A total of 12 apprentices have signed
up forthe apprenticeship training agreement under the National Trade
Certificates 2 Motor Mechanics Apprenticeship Scheme that comprises 11
automotive and services related companies - Sin Hup Huat Tyre Service
Centre, Grand Motors Sdn Bhd, Premier Motor Co Sdn Bhd, Jati
Transports Sdn Bhd, Hock SiongHinAuto Parts & Services Centre, United
Motors Sdn Bhd, Worldwide Motor Sdn Bhd, Jasra Car Rentals Sdn Bhd,
QAF Eurokars Sdn Bhd, QAF Auto Sdn Bhd and Aziz Latif & Company.
The guest of honour on hand to
witness the signing ceremony was Awg Hj Omar bin Hj A. Rahman,
Commissioner of Labour. Also present were Awg Hj Jamal bin Hj Kahar,
Acting Director of Technical Education and other senior officials from
vocational institutions and the Department of Technical Education.

Hj Jamal- said since the start of the partnership scheme in 2000, a
total of 46 qualified apprentices have been produced for the industry.
By the end of December 2005, another 11 apprentices will have
graduated.
He added that there is an ample
employment opportunity in the ever growing and important sector of the
automobile industry and he hopes that such close collaboration will
further enhance the department's ability to provide more places for
apprenticeship training.
He also urged companies to step
forward and support the department's two other apprenticeship training
schemes, which are Professional Cookery & Services and Refrigeration
&Air Conditioning. --
