British Holds Reception For UK Trade Mission
By Jon Tampoi

Bandar Seri Begawan - A reception for delegates from Northern Offshore Federation (NOF) was held on Friday evening at the British High Coin missioner's Residence at Jalan Kota Batu.

NOF is the United Kingdom's leading offshore, marine and renewable energy trade federation. The reception was held in honour of the 18 delegates who were in the country on a brief business visit.

Among the aims of the visit were to seek new business relations within the sultanate, and to study new business opportunities and business ventures apart from the existing ones.

The delegation was made up of various professionals in industries such as IT Consultancy, engineering and the like. On hand to welcome the NOF delegates was Mr John Saville, the British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam. Mr Saville mentioned in his speech that the visit was exciting in terms of potential for longer-term collaboration in some of the high-tech areas and pushing Brunei further up the agenda for UK trade development.

The British High Commissioner-also hoped that the visit would transform strong areas, with firmly rooted mutual interest, and update as well as modernise them to a refresh appeal for both sides to use as "trailblazers" into completely new and unexpected fields.

Also present at the reception were members of the Britain Brunei Business Forum and several other Brunei business representatives. The delegation came in from Malaysia via Miri on Friday morning and left the sultanate for Singapore yesterday morning. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
