BRUFA Attends AFFA Meeting In
Indonesia

Begawan - Members of the Brunei Freight Forwarders Association
(BRUFA) attended the 15th Asean Federation of Forwarders Association (AFFA)
annual general meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia recently.
Among the associations that attended
the three-day meeting were from Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia,
Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
Also in attendance were
representatives from Japan freight forwarders association, IATA and
FIATA.
BRUFA
was represented by its president Lawrence Rathinan and
secretary-generals KK Yeong and Thomas Koh.

opened the meeting, which saw the discussion of various topics such as
Asean Transport Cooperation 2005, education and training, liability
insurance coverage, trade facilitation and industry issues pertaining
to terminal handling charge, and fuel surcharge.
The meeting was also attended by
representative from the Asean Secretariat, Honorio R Vitasa, who
updated the participants on the 11th Asean Transport Ministers (ATM)
meeting held in Vientiane, Lao PDR, November 17-18 which focused on
gearing up the transport of the Vientiane Action Programme (VAP) under
the Asean Framework Agreement on Multimodal Transport. --
