Sultan In Bilateral Talks With Leaders

Mecca - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the closing session of the 3rd OIC Extraordinary Summit Conference inn the Holy city of Mecca.

Accompanying His Majesty at the summit was HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, RTB reported.

During the general debate session Wednesday, His Majesty in his titah, said the conference in the Holy city of Mecca had been a rare and moving experience and produced feelings of deep privilege and humility.

Muslim leaders from across the globe were united in a call to combat terrorism and defend the image of Islam.

On the sidelines of the summit, His Majesty held bilateral talks with other OIC leaders. On Wednesday afternoon, His Majesty consented to receive in audience the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia. During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on efforts to enhance bilateral relations.

His Majesty also held a separate meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, llham Aliyev.

During the meeting, His Majesty thanked the president for inviting His Majesty to visit Azerbaijan.

Both leaders exchanged views on efforts to enhance relations between the two countries such as in the areas of investment and tourism. 

On Wednesday night, His Majesty attended a dinner banquet with other OIC leaders.

Also present was HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah. The reception was hosted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
