With two days remaining before the
start of the first-ever Brunei Marathon on Sunday, Dec 11, runners
from Europe, Africa, Australia and Asean have started to arrive for
'the most grueling run in Southeast Asia.'
The first group of seven elite
runners from Kenya arrived yesterday. The runners include Anne Jelagat
Kibor, an experienced runner who has previously participated in seven
marathons. She took part in the Dublin City Marathon last month where
she was placed third. Anne will be competing in the Open 42 km
category.
Another runner, Lena Cherwrigot, who
represented Kenya in the Junior World Cross Country Championship from
1991 to 1993, will be participating in the Open 21 km category.
