His Majesty At OIC Summit

Bandar Seri Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday attended the 3rd Extraordinary Summit of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in the Holy city of Mecca.

The opening ceremony of the summit was held in the morning at-the Al-Safa Palace, RTB reported.

His Majesty was greeted on arrival by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, as the host. More than 40 heads of state and government of OIC nations are attending the summit.

The session was officially opened by the Saudi King, who expressed hope that the summit would strengthen Islamic unity and enable OIC countries to play an effective role on world stage.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam arrived in Saudi Arabia Tuesday night. Accompanying His Majesty is HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Upon arrival at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, His Majesty was greeted by HRH Prince Meshal bin Majid,

Governer of Jeddah, and Brunei's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Pg Haji Jaberuddin bin Pg Haji Mohhammad Salleh. From Jeddah His Majesty was driven in a motorcade to the Holy city of Mecca, where His Majesty performed the Umrah. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
