Bandar Seri Begawan - In partnership with Asean-EC, Urban Forum yesterday presented the first public Kaplan/Norton workshop, on `Understanding the balance scorecard basics and how it creates a strategy-focused organisation'.

The one-day event, held at Asean-EC Management Centre in Gadong, was conducted by TM Rajan from the Balanced Scorecard Collaborative, the only organisation led by the balance scorecard's creators, Dr Robert S Kaplan and Dr David Norton.

It was attended by over 50 key senior and top government officers, who learnt more about the balance scorecard from its creators.

The main objective was to better equip participants in their decision-making process.

It was also announced that Dr Kaplan is going to be in Brunei for a one-day seminar on April 3, 2006.

He will be focusing on the government and non-profit-organisations, as well as explaining how a profound management philosophy like the strategy-focused organisation can have a powerful impact on future performances.

Urban Forum and Asean-EU would initiate the upcoming seminar, entitled `Managing for results: using balance scorecard to achieve better performance and good governance'.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
