Local Named Most Promising Climber
At Philippine Meet

Begawan - Local climber Mohd Denos Jaya did Brunei proud when
he was named "The Most Promising Climber" in the final leg of the
Southeast Asia (SEA) Climbing Circuit in Manila, the Philippines,
December 3-4.
All member countries - Brunei,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore -
participated in the final leg, a first in the history of the event.
The SEA Climbing Circuit, annually
hosted in rotation by the six member countries, is aimed at promoting
climbing for the development of youths in sports and physical
activities.
Next year, the competition will be
hosted by Jakarta, Indonesia.
The president of Brunei Sport
Climbing Federation (BSCF) thanked the Department of Youth and Sports
for supporting the association's participation in the circuit. -
`Brunei is still new to the sports
and apart from winning the special award, `Most Promising Climber',
the winners in the bouldering and speed test categories mainly
comprised climbers from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia," she said.
She added that the federation is
currently looking for climbing enthusiasts to join the club as well as
to compete in the regional circuit.
