Family Of Four Stuck In Financial
Dilemma
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Life for Yusrina Abdullah has never been the same
since the death of her husband in June last year.
Worries of what the next day had in
store for her was never an issue then, with her cable-contractor
husband around.
Though savings were put aside for a
rainy day, a big portion of it was used to care for her ill husband.
Now, hardly anything is left for the
48-year-old mother of three. "Look at my dwindling house. When my
husband was alive, all the damages would be attended to one by one.
Now the damages remain as I don't have any money for maintenance
work," she said of her Kg Terunjing Baru house.
Yusrina
Abdullah disclosed that she is not entitled to receive help from
public agencies as she is a permanent resident.
Of her three children, only one is
employed. "With a $600 salary, my son has to take care of the family
and pay for his car instalments. However, I don't expect anything from
him," she added.
In light of this, Yusrina Abdullah is
now relying_ on the public for help.
"I hope I can be employed so I would
not have to resort to asking for money to buy food."
"Either that or I hope to find some
capital to start up a small business," she added.
The 48-year-old also expressed hopes
of getting her own house one day as she is currently residing in a
house constructed on a piece of land belonging to her late husband's
relatives. --
