Fire Safety Drive At Belait Health Dept

Kuala Belait - The Belait Fire Services Department recently held a fire safety road show at the Belait Health Department office.

The event was jointly conducted by the Public Relations Officer and officers from the Fire Safety Unit together with the Investigation Officer from the Electrical Department and Kuala Belait Fire Station "B" Operational Command.

They carried out visual inspections at the Belait Health Department office to ensure the building is fire safe, and tested the fire fighting equipment and fire protection systems at the premises.

The PRO officer also delivered a lecture to the officers and staff of the Belait Health Department on the roles and functions of the Fire Services Department, the different types of fire extinguishers and their usage and fire safety tips.

This was followed by a practical session on the usage of portable fire extinguishers.

A fire evacuation drill was carried out straight after the lecture and practical session to ensure the occupants are familiar with the evacuation route and evacuate in a calm and orderly manner to the predetermined assembly area.

Fire appliances from the Kuala Belait Fire Station responded quickly and the respond-time was found to be within the desired timing by the operation command.

"Fire safety is of utmost importance that cannot be compromised to ensure the safety of the occupants. By introducing the fire safety road show, Belait Fire Services Department believes that it will assistto enforce and enhance fire safety awareness in order to not only save lives but also minimise the loss of properties," said the PRO officer, DSO Mohd Taha B. Bakar.

Also taking part in the fire evacuation drill were the Belait Senior Medical Officer, Dr Hj Azian, Fire Prevention Officer "B" Command So. Wan Julaini and Deputy Station Commander of Kuala Belait Fire Station So. Malinau.
