Talk On Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis Held At Empire

Bandar Seri Begawan - A talk on asthma and allergic rhinitis was held yesterday afternoon at the Empire Hotel and Country Club.

The talk was presented by Dr Ruby Pawankar, a professor at the Department of Otolaryngology of the Nippon Medical School, Tokyo, Japan.

Dr Ruby in her talk said the number of people suffering from asthma has increased to a worrying stage in Asia with children constituting a large percentage of the total cases reported.

The talk organised by Merck Sharp And Dohme (I.A) Corp was attended by medical practitioners from government and private hospitals and pharmacies.

The aim of the event was to educate the general public here on the causes of allergic rhinitis and asthma and the various measures which can be taken to prevent and control them.
