Six For Indonesia Science Olympiad

Begawan - Six students from various schools nationwide departed
for Yogyakarta, Indonesia, yesterday to participate in the 2n'
International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
The six students are Md-Faiz Hj Sufri
Khan (Maktab SOAS), Nurul Izzati Mohd Noor (Maktab Sains PSBS), Ak Hj
Mohd Saiful Bahri (Maktab Sains PSBS), Ak Hj Mohd Zaki Pg Dato Paduka
Hj Zaini (SM Menglait), Muhd Fadhli Hj Jumat (Sekolah Chung Ching,
Seria) and Muhd Ayyub Hj Kamaludin (St John's School).
They are led by Hjh Mahani Hj Abd
Rashid of the Science, Technology and Environment Partnership (STEP)
Centre, Ministry of Education and accompanied by two moderators and
four trainers.
Seeing them off at the Brunei
International Airport in Berakas was Awang Koh Hong Puah, Acting Head
of STEP Centre at the Ministry of Education.
Yogyakarta
hosted the IJSO which began yesterday and will run till Dec 13.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to declare
open the competition for junior high school students while Vice
President M Jusuf Kala is set to close it.
Among the participating nations are
Brunei Darussalam, Laos, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Croatia, Ireland,
Romania, the Netherlands, Kenya and Indonesia as the host.
IJSO
is an annual event for students aged 16 and below with the aim of
generating enthusiasm in the exploration of science. --
