BAKTI ABDB Launches Cookbook

Bandar Seri Begawan - Yesterday afternoon a cookbook called 'Selera BAKTI' by BAKTI ABDB, the welfare body of wives of Royal Brunei Armed Forces personnel, was launched at the Officers' Mess Berakas Garison.

The function was organised by BAKTI Royal Brunei Air Force with the cooperation from other BAKTI ABDB units.

The cookbook is a compilation of BAKTI ABDB members' personal and favourite recipes featuring traditional Malay, Asian and western cuisine.

The English-Malay bilingual publication is sponsored by HSBC. The guest of honour at the function who officiated the launching of 'Selera BAKTI' was Datin Hajah Noryasimah binti Abdullah, wife of the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Datu Singamenteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haj i Mohammad Yasmin bin Haj i Umar.

The ceremony began with the mass recitation of Surah al-Fatihah followed by a welcoming speech from the President of BAKTI ABDB, Datin Hajah Kalshom bte Haji Suhaili, wife of the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Pehin Dam Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof.

Among the guests at the launching ceremony were Mr Simon Williams, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Brunei, and wives of foreign diplomats as well as members and ex-members of BAKTI ABDB.

In conjunction with the launch, a food fair was held showcasing delicious dishes prepared by BAKTI ABDB members and private companies which took part in the event.

'Selera BAKTI' is the first cookbook project published by BAKTI ABDB and it hopes more of such publication could be undertaken in the future.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
