discussions within the spirit of
family culture.
"An example of effective teaching
is for Ugama teachers to go to people's homes to teach al-Quran,
whether they be local or foreign teachers who recognise the
importance of its knowledge and benefits.
"This is not only for children
but for the entire family which can participate in performing the
various forms of "fardu ain" such as conducting mass prayers which
would bring a happier atmosphere and blessings," he added. |
He called for Ugama schools to update
all aspects of its curriculum, textbooks, capabilities of its teachers
and teaching facilities.
To achieve this The Department of
Islamic studies needs to be active and pro-active and act as a
catalyst to develop all concerned so that they realise the importance
of religious studies.
Family meritorious awards were given
to four people including retired officers, teachers and staff. Five
more received excellent service awards. A mini expo was also organised
