JPI holds annual Family Day

The Department of Islamic Studies or
Jabatan Pengajian Islam (JPI) yesterday organised its annual Family
Day at the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers' College (MPUSB) in Jalan
Tutong.
Gracing the event as guest of honour
was Deputy Minister of Education Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji
Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, who was accompanied by
several other senior officials from the ministry.
The day commenced with a Surah al-Fatihah
recital, before a welcoming speech was delivered by Director of
Islamic Studies Ustazah Hajah Kasmah Hj Siput, the chairperson of the
event. Later, a speech was also delivered by the guest of honour.
To enliven the celebration, a 'tausyeh'
performance was staged by male teachers from the Belait District. The
guest of honour then presented awards and tokens of appreciation to
recipients of this year's 'Tokoh Israh.'
The day saw the chief guest watching
a demonstration on the use of tablet PCs and touring the stalls
erected by schools, colleges and higher institutions that come under
JPI.
