By Huraizah Ahmad
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Ten students from-the Sayyidina UmarAl-Khattab
Secondary School (SMSUA), Kg Lumapas yesterday has left for Brisbane,
Australia on a ten-day educational trip.
The trip was fully sponsored by HSBC,
under its recently launched `HSBC Cares' Corporate Social
Responsibility Programme (CSR).
The trip to Brisbane was organised by
Ms. Linda Galbraith of SMSUAs English Department.
The trip will help students to blend
into an English-speaking environment, develop cross-cultural awareness
while having a great time. While in Brisbane; the students will attend
an intensive English language course at the International College of
Queensland.
The course, which includes activities
to enhance oral and written skills, will further develop the students'
fluency in English language and general communications ability.
The students will also be visiting
several places of educational interests such as the Queensland Museum
and Art Gallery.
The students will also be able to
experience the dioramas of Australia's history and wildlife and
exhibits of Australian and Aboriginal art.
Mr
Priestley said the trip was a wonderful opportunity to reward the
selected students for their achievement at school in Brunei whilst
widening their horizons.
HSBC
believes strongly in the value of learning. We know this trip will
benefit the students in their learning and subsequent careers.
With the help of their teachers, who
have put so much work into the project, the students will be able to
enjoy themselves while learning about a different country and culture.
They will hopefully return
reinvigorated and freshly determined to achieve their full potential
at school and contribute to Brunei in their subsequent careers," he
said. --
