MOH Donations For Intending Haj Pilgrims

Bandar Seri Begawan - More than 900 Haj pilgrims will be expected to perform the Haj this year and will leave for Mecca on Dec 15.

Among the intending Haj pilgrims are the appointed medical team members from the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health has once again provided medical services for the Brunei pilgrims while in the holy city of Mecca and Medinah.

Six medical officers, nineteen nurses and a paramedic team will be stationed in Mecca and Medinah. Four flights chartered by Royal Brunei Airlines are scheduled to leave the country soon where the second flight will leave for Mecca on Dec 20 while the third Haj flight will depart on Dec 22. The last scheduled Haj flight will leave the country on Dec 25.

The Ministry of Health yesterday afternoon held a thanksgiving ceremony for the medical team members as well as for the Haj pilgrims from the Ministry of Health. Among the intending Haj pilgrims is the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health, Dato Paduka Serbini and spouse.

Present as the guest of honour at the ceremony was the Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haj i Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman.

At the- ceremony, the guest of honour handed over the donations for intending Haj pilgrims from the Ministry of Health.

Also present to witness the ceremony was the Deputy Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Hj Hazair bin Hj Abdullah.

According to the Ministry of Health, ten medical officers and three officers from the Haj Management Department will leave the country for Mecca on Dec 7 for initial preparations at the clinics and medical wards in Mecca and Medinah.

This is to ensure that all the medicines and medical logistics such as transportation and ambulance are arranged accordingly.

Intending Haj pilgrims are told to look after - their health and are advised to eat a well-balanced meal. The Haj pilgrims are scheduled to return to the country on Jan 15, 16,18 and 21, 2006. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
