Jailed For Overstaying

Bandar Seri Begawan - An Indonesian man and a Filipino woman were sentenced to jail by the Bandar Magistrates' Court yesterday after both pleaded guilty to the charge of remaining in this country unlawfully after the expiry of their social visit passes.

Yadi Kastami, 37, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with three strokes of the cane for overstaying for a period of 509 days since the expiry of his visit pass on July 10 last year.

Meanwhile, Nining J Batahang, 34, was sentenced to three months behind bars after pleading guilty to the charge of remaining in Brunei for 125 days unlawfully.
