Asean Linguistic Experts At Pre Conference Meeting

Bandar Seri Begawan - Linguistic experts from several Asean countries recently held a pre-conference meeting at Patra Jasa Hotel in Indonesia recently.

The meeting, which was held before the 3rd Asean Linguistics Convention discussed on efforts to form theAsean Linguistic Association (Persatuan Linguis Asean)

Dr. Haji Azmi Abdullah, Head of Department/ Senior Lecture of Malay Language and Linguistics of University Brunei Darussalam presented his working paper for the formation of the association.

In line with his position as the president of Brunei's Linguistics Association, he stated that the idea of forming the Asean Linguistic Association was first mooted by Brunei.

This will become our big contribution at the regional level, said Dato Paduka Dr. Awang Haji Ismail bin Haji Duraman, Vice Chancellor of UBD, in his speech at the opening ceremony of the general meeting of Negara Brunei Darussalam (PLBD) Linguistics Association recently.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
