Nippon Maru Leaves For Manila

Bandar Seri Begawan - The cruise ship of the South East Asian Youth Programme carrying youths from Japan and Asean countries - including Brunei - left Muara Port for its next destination, Manila in the Philippines yesterday.

The guest of honour at the farewell ceremony was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Yaakub bin Abu Bakar, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Families involved in the home stay programme was also present at the event where they were given a reception and an opportunity to tour the cruise ship.

Over 300 youths from Japan and Asean countries onboard the ship, Nippon Maru arrived at Muara Port on November 28.

While in the country the youths participated in a three-day home stay programme where they interacted with their Bruneian foster families to learn about the culture, lifestyle and delicacies.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
