MoE to host 52nd Asean Sports School Council meet

The Ministry of Education will be the host and secretariat for the meeting of management committee of the 42nd and technical committee meeting of the 52nd Sports School Council.

It will be held on Dec 6 at the Centrepoint Hotel. This was stated at a press conference held yesterday. Present at the press conference were Awg Hj Rosdi bin Hj Abd Latif, Senior Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Education, Awg Ali bin Hj Ismail, the secretary of the committee and Awg Hassan bin Metussin, the deputy secretary.

The meeting will be divided into two parts where the morning session will be for the technical committee which will be held from 9am to12 pm while the afternoon session is for the committee of executive management.

Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Bin Pengiran Hj Abdul Rahman, the Deputy Minister of Education, who is also the president of the Asean Sports Schools Council, will chair the meeting for the administration committee. The meeting for the technical committee will be chaired by a delegation from the Republic of Singapore.

Among the agenda will be the minutes on committee meeting of the 41st ASSC, report on technical committee, fixing the activities of the ASSC calendar of events for 2006, report by the treasurer, surrender of secretariat position to Malaysia for year 2006-2007 and to welcome as well as to officiate Cambodia's entry as a new member of the Asean Sports School Council.

The main objectives are to encourage cooperation, strengthen relationship and understanding between youths through the Asean exchange programme or sports activities, training and educational visits.

Visits to interesting places have been planned especially for the guests who will be in Brunei Darussalam. The secretariat will only be in office for two years and will be handed over to another nation. Malaysia will play host to the next secretariat meeting.
