5th ECG Workshop At Empire Hotel

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Cardiology Division, Department of Internal Medicine at RIPAS Hospital yesterday held its fifth annual electrocardiogram (ECG) workshop at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong.

Present as the chief guest was Director General of Medical Services, Ministry of Health Dr Hj Affendy bin POKSM DSP Hj Abidin.

Speakers included Dr Azlan Hussin, cardiologist and electrophysiologist from the Institute Jantung Negara in Malaysia and medical officers and specialists from the Cardiology Division at RIPAS, who presented key issues on the interpretation of ECG during the workshop.

More than 300 doctors and nurses from hospitals and health centres throughout the country, including those from the Gleaneagle Jerudong Park Medical Centre, attended the talk that was aimed at informing medical staff the correct way of interpreting ECG in order to achieve accurate diagnoses.

ECG is a simple, non-invasive electrical recording of the heart to establish the presence of heart disease. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
