Book Vendors Warned Against Selling Books From Unauthorized Publishers

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Curriculum Development Department of the Ministry of Education cautioned all registered book vendors not to sell books from unauthorised book suppliers/publishers.

The department warned that legal action would be taken if book vendors fail to adhere to the rules.

Acting Director Hj Matassan bin Hj Bungsu highlighted this during a briefing session with some 20 registered book vendors at the Curriculum Department in the capital yesterday.

Assistant DirectorAkAbdullah bin Pg Hj Tengah, Hj Abd Rahman bin Hj Nawi, the Head of Publishing Department as well as other senior officers took part in the discussion, aimed at giving all book vendors a better understanding on the rules and regulations of selling any copyright-protected books.

The Curriculum Department also showed the difference between an original copy and those from unauthorised book publishers.

The department's Publication Unit will conduct checks at all bookstores throughout the country to ensure that book vendors abide by the rules and regulations.
