Bandar Seri Begawan – Number of converts who embraced the Islamic faith through the Islamic Dakwah Centre is not only made up of local citizens but also foreigners in the country.

Among the new converts is Awang Muhammad Ikram Bin Abdullah, a Dusun Kadazan from Sabah.

He has been working in the country for four years and he converted to Islam on September 27 on his own accord saying that for him, Islam is the faithful and truthful religion.

He said that being a Muslim enables to perform daily prayers and discipline himself.

He feels more peaceful and comfortable. He is also thankful to Allah the Almighty for rewarding him a happier and peaceful life.

Another foreigner who converted to Islam is Dayang Nurdiyanah Binti Abdullah, from the Philippines.

She has been residing in Brunei for more than a year and converted to Islam on May 13.

She was inspired to the faith of the holy religion when a friend told her about the teachings of Islam.

She was also attracted by how the Muslims dressed modestly.

For these new converts, they also were given courses on the introduction to Islam, both in theoretical and practical.

The courses were organised in stages by the Islamic Dakwah Centre.

It is hoped that with the guidance and encouragement given to them, this will lead them a truly and harmonious life as a Muslim, A Dakwah official added. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
