Miri Daily News, Chinese Daily News To Merge
By Azaraimy HH

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two daily Chinese newspapers - Miri Daily News and Chinese Daily News - have decided to merge to be known as United Daily News by January 1, 2004.

Having circulations in Sarawak and Brunei, both dailies have served the Chinese literate over the past five decades.

According to United Daily News, the merger would mean that it would have the combined resources of Miri Daily News and Chinese Daily News.

Officials of the merger said, the enlarged entity will therefore be in a better position to improve the product further and to be better placed to serve their clients and business partners more efficiently.

With the merger, the United Daily News will have a circulation of at least 35,000 copies daily throughout Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
