Artists Show Off Creativity At
UNICEF Art Exhibition
By P. Marilyn
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Art enthusiasts yesterday flocked to Sheraton Utama
Hotel in the capital for an art exhibition, organised by the hotel
in collaboration with the Brunei Art Forum.

|
The one-day
exhibition, held in conjunction with the UNICEF Checkout for
Children Challenge 2008, featured 40 artworks showing
different styles and mediums.
Contributing artists
comprised not only members of the Brunei Art Forum but also
non-members and children. It was an opportunity for the
public to expose their creativity and talent for a worthy
cause.
Themed 'Child Survival',
the exhibition was aimed at creating awareness on UNICEF and
their life-saving immunisation programmes for children
throughout the world.
"We have received an
overwhelming response |
|
from both the Brunei Art
Forum artists and the public for the exhibition. It was
great to see people connecting with each other through
art," said Wena Hj Hamidon, Sheraton Utama Hotel's
UNICEF Ambassador. |
The Sheraton Utama Hotel and its
UNICEF committee would like to express their gratitude to Brunei Art
Forum and the public for their support towards the cause.
Apart from the display of artworks,
the exhibition also saw a few activities lined up for visitors, as
well as children.
The UNICEF Checkout for Children
Challenge is an annual fundraising campaign among employees of
Starwood Hotels and Resorts, who are required to come up with
creative ideas to raise funds for UNICEF immunisation projects.
Funds raised by the hotel will
assist UNICEF to immunise thousands of children in the Asia Pacific
region.
Those who missed the exhibition can
