Bandar Seri
Begawan - Hundreds of lecturers, stall and students of
Institute of Technology Brunei (ITB) in Rimba took advantage of the
free medical health screening by medical officers from the Ministry
of Health in an effort to ensure their health is in good condition
while at the campus.

The medical
health screening included measurement of height and weight
as well as body mass index to determine obesity level, blood
pressure and random blood sugar level, and general check up.
They also underwent
consultation where they were asked on their medical history,
treatment as well as family history for hypertension,
diabetes, renal disease or failure, heart disease or
failure, stroke, and smoking.
A medical officer said
participants will be referred to outpatient treatment, PHY
clinic, Accident &Emergency Dept, Healthy Body Clinic or
Stop Smoking Clinic if they are found to be in need of

treatment. |
Before undergoing the medical
screening, participants were required to fast for at least eight
hours before being checked. Hajah Sariani bte Hj Ishak, the ITB
Student Welfare Officer said the medical screening was organized to
ensure lecturers, staff and students continue to be in their best
health while at the campus.
"Health is’ indeed worth more than
learning and it is not valued till sickness arrives. "No one should
be too busy to avoid taking care of their health. We must treat our
health like a mechanic taking care of his tools.
"If a mechanic loses one of his
tools he will go mad. That's the way we should treat our body in
ensuring that we are in good health all the time," she said. --
