Eat Only Halal Food: Sermon

Bandar Seri Begawan - Muslims should disregard other people's perceptions when it comes to choosing only halal food and drinks and instead keep in mind that it is a religious duty as decreed by Allah SWT. In the sermon yesterday, imams explained that Islam puts a great emphasis on ensuring the cleanliness and halal state of food and drinks to be consumed.

In addition to being cautious and ensuring that the actual ingredients are halal, Muslims should also try to be sure that even the money used to buy the food and drinks come from a halal source and not obtained through illegal activities such as stealing, gambling and bribery. Food and drinks play a major role in shaping quality individuals who are good academically, physically and spiritually. These basic necessities also affect how a person behaves and their personality.

Food and drinks that are clean and halal can encourage a feeling of thankfulness and faith towards Allah SWT in an individual, and encourage them in their religious duties.

Imams yesterday lauded the initiatives of government agencies to tightly monitor the import

of meat and poultry, and to identify restaurants that serve food and drinks that are suitable for Muslims.

They also warned that Muslims should not take lightly food products that can be purchased in shops, especially those produced by or imported from non-Muslim manufacturers in other countries. (NASI)   -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
