800 Expected For Muhibbah Run
By Achong Tanjong
Bandar Seri
Begawan - More than 800 people from all walks of life are
expected to take part in the PWM Muhibbah Run which will be held in
conjunction with the 50th Malaysian National Day celebration.
The run, which will be held on
September 2, is scheduled to begin and end at the Diplomatic Site
(next to Malaysian High Commissioner's Residence in Jalan Kebangsaan).
Malaysia celebrates its National Day on August 31.
The Muhibbah Run organisers said at
a press conference yesterday that due to overwhelming response, they
are planning to print extra commemorative T-shirts to cater for
last-minute registrations. Those who register after August 28
however might find themselves left out of the run.
All participants are required to
pay a nominal fee of $12 per person (for adults) and $6 per
participant (for children aged 12 and below). In return, they will
be rewarded with gifts consisting of T-shirts, towels and other
items.
Participants will also be treated
to Malaysian delicacies, snacks and refreshments at the site, which
are being provided by several corporate companies and restaurants.
The run is divided into three
categories, one of which will be a 15km Survival Run which starts at
3pm and is limited to 50 physically-fit runners. Attractive prizes
await the top three runners in each category.
A Fun Run, for which there are two
trails, one long and one short, will start at 4pm sharp. The longer
trail is about seven km in distance and is recommended for regular
joggers. The shorter distance (four km) is more suitable for those
who wish to have fun and run at a more relaxed pace.
Entry forms can be obtained from
Tuty (2453666), James Lee (2452452), Stanley Lim (8738263), Ellin
Chong (8728293), Ah Choon (8715673) and Gilbert Ham (8890898). -- Courtesy of Borneo
