Rover Scouts Jamboree Here

Bangar - Brunei will be hosting the 1st Rover Moot Brunei Darussalam, a jamboree for Rover Scouts from all over the world, from Sept 7 to 11.

The executive committee for the 1st Brunei Darussalam Rover Scouts held a meeting attended by the President of Brunei Darussalam Scouts Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Ali Haji Md Daud and Chief Scout Pehin Dato Paduka (Dr) Haji Hussain Haji Awg Mohd Yussof.

The rover scouts programme aims to give rover scouts the experience, and attract and expose to society the activities of youth volunteers.

The chairman of the working committee for Brunei Darussalam Rover Scout 2007, Haji Awg Badar Haji Awg Ali briefed those present on the rundown of the event.

"The Rover Moot camp for rover scouts will be held for the first time in Brunei Darussalam in early September," he said. It is expected to be attended by 300 participants from in and outside the country. Organisers have confirmed participation from Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Sumatera, Indonesia and others. The decision to participate in full will be made known by Sept 1.

To be held at the training area of Brunei Scouts Association, the programme is divided into the camping management centre, and an outside district activity.

Scheduled in Temburong are water activities, community service, culture and global development village. Also present during the meeting was Chief Commissioner of Scouts Dato Paduka Haji Idris Haji Abas. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
