HSBC
Cleaning Campaign At Pusat Ehsan
By Aemy Azlena
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Twenty five HSBC staff members of 'HSBC Cares'
showed their willingness to work together in a cleaning campaign at
Pusat Ehsan in Kampong Bengkurong.
The campaign was one of the bank's
corporate responsibility projects held in conjunction with the
bank's 60th anniversary celebration, which also serves to highlight
its overall commitment and continuous support for the country's
progress.
The team was led by Jennifer Chan
of Financial Control Department in cleaning, washing, weeding,
mowing and painting the centre.
Upon their arrival at the centre,
they were greeted by Pusat Ehsan's Head of Administration, Hj Abd
Hamid bin Ma' aruf.
Hj
Abd Hamid also expressed his appreciation to the volunteers who set
aside their own free time to help beautify and improve the
conditions around the centre.
According to Jennifer Chan: "It's
always good to know that as individuals and as part of a leading
global financial services organisation, we can actually make a
difference to the community and the people around us through
projects such as this cleaning and beautifying campaign.
"A positive aspect off our HSBC
Cares programme is that any staff member can initiate, volunteer and
push through a corporate responsibility initiative, whether the
focus is on education, the environment or the community. "Knowing
that, it gives us a greater sense of commitment, belonging and
empowerment.
"This is also the reason why our
corporate responsibility projects always receive an overwhelming
response from staff volunteers, despite the fact that most of these
activities take place outside of working hours," she added.
HSBC's corporate responsibility
programme is led and supported by the Chief Operating Officer,
Matthew Martin, and Hjh Normah Ismail as the Committee Chairperson.

have over the past few years gained a reputation in the Sultanate as
being active drivers and participants in many community and
environmentally related initiatives. -- Courtesy of Borneo
