By Rosli Abidin Yahya and James Kon

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM) in Brunei Darussalam will be organising a golf tournament to commemorate the 50th Independence Day of Malaysia at the Jerudong Park Country Club (JPCC) on Sunday, August 26.

Organising Chairman Ken Kho said the 2007 Muhibbah Golf Tournament is open to all residents of Brunei Darussalam.

He however said participating golfers must have a valid handicap in order to enter the tournament. If the player has more than one handicap from more than one club, he must declare the lowest handicap, he added.

"The format of the play will be stroke play over 18 holes based on the players' official handicap.

"The tournament will be divided into three categories; division A for handicap between 0 and 12, division B for handicap between 13 and 18 and division C for handicap between 19 and 24.

"The first top three players in every division will win prizes, as well as overall nett and gross winners," he said.

He added that three motor companies - Proton Malaysia, GHK Motors Sdn Bhd and Setia Motors Sdn Bhd have agreed to sponsor a car each for the hole-in-one prizes.

"The organising committee is expecting the confirmation of a fourth sponsor for the hole-in-one prizes to complete the prizes for all four par 3 holes.

"Other prizes offered include nearest to the pin, nearest to the line and longest drive and $5,000 cash. Some 50 lucky draw prizes are also on offer.

"All participants will be entitled to a goodies bag containing various golf accessories," he said.

All participants will be required to pay $100 entrance fee for both members and non-members of JPCC, which covers green fees, buggy fees, breakfast and lunch.

Entry forms for the tournament can be obtained from Komala One-Stop Car Service Centre (Tel 2454578), Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd (Tel 2453666), GTE (B) Directories Sdn Bhd, Ken Kho (HP 8717500), Ho Ley Hoon (HP 8727080), Teong Kee Huat (HP 8980398) and JPCC. All entry forms with entrance fees must be submitted to JPCC not later than August 22. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
