Carpet Exhibition At Lexus Showroom
By Sonia K & James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - It was a visual feast at the Central Asian Carpet
Exhibition held at-the Lexus Showroom in Gadong for all Lexus owners
yesterday from 1pm to 7pm.
According to Mr Ninan Chacko, NBT
Managing Director, the company, in its continuing efforts to drive
greater customer satisfaction, has in collaboration with the
renowned carpet specialists, Hassan Carpets, Singapore, brought in
56 exquisite hand-woven carpets from India, Pakistan and Iran. Each
is a work of art that all Lexus owners will not only be able to
appreciate but also purchase to take pride of place in their homes.
"Some of the carpets have up to 750
knots per square inch - truly intricate work of artistic beauty and
perfection. These masterpieces will be prized by all Lexus owners,
who will also recognise the same relentless passion Lexus subscribes
to, in their pursuit of excellence and perfection in automotive
engineering and production," he said.
According to Mr Suliman Hamid,
Managing Director of Hassans Carpets, it is a fact that carpets made
of top quality wool and other materials, will in fact, improve with
age. Under `normal household usage', carpets have been known to last
for 300 plus years.
"The patina (exquisite colour) of
top quality carpet is actually enhanced with age and usage. Our most
expensive piece here is a, B$81,000 Pakistan-made carpet," said Mr
Suliman whose three generations old company has sold ornamental and
investment carpets worth B$1, 000,000+ per piece.
"The public is welcomed to the
exhibition at the Lexus Showroom today from 9am to 7pm, to
experience these masterpieces of excellence, which are seldom seen
in Brunei Darussalam," said Mr Chacko. For further information,
