Pusat Ehsan Children Greet US Sailors
By Kartika Rahman

Bandar Seri Begawan - "Hello, sailors!" exclaimed one of the children at Pusat Ehsan as navy personnel from the USS Jarrett (FFG-33) made a stop at his learning-activity room.

The USS Jarrett, which is currently in the country partaking in the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (Carat) 2007 between the US Navy and Royal Brunei Armed Forces, paid a visit to Pusat Ehsan yesterday.

As part of the Carat 2007 exercise, the 19 navy personnel repainted the front gate of the centre.

A staff member of Pusat Ehsan said, "They have done a wonderful job. The compound looks great."

Also present to lend a helping hand were members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Lieutenant Alfred V Pena, who was leading the group of US Navy personnel, said, "After we're done with the repainting work, we'll have a chance to meet the kids of Pusat Ehsan. We're all looking forward to interacting with them."

Pusat Ehsan is a charity-funded centre for children with special needs. It is open to visits as it brings about awareness surrounding the needs of special children. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
