BENA To Hold Talk On Energy
Conservation

Begawan - The Brunei Energy Association (BEnA) will be holding
a talk on "Energy Conservation and New Energy Development" on August
26 at the Indera Kayangan Ballroom, Empire Hotel and Country Club from
8.30 am to noon..
The talk, which is one of the
activities the association has planned for 2006, will feature two
keynote speakers from Japan, Toshihiko Tanaka from Tokyo Electric
Power Inc (Tepco) and Hideto Nishimura from Mitsubishi Corporation.
Tanaka, who will be presenting a talk
on the concept of energy conservation, has been with Tepco since 1983.
He is currently the general manager of the Energy Saving Promotion
Group as well as a lecturer at numerous universities in Japan.
Meanwhile, Nishimura will be
presenting a talk on new and renewable energy. He joined Mitsubishi
Corporation in 1978 and is now the general manager at its Energy
Business Development Department and Fuel Cell Business Office.
Nishimura has also had vast
experience as a speaker, having delivered talks at numerous
international conferences. The main objectives of the event are to
enhance knowledge as well as stimulate research in the field of energy
technology, to promote uniformity in standards relating to common
appliances in the energy industry, to improve standards of safety,
health and environment, and to contribute to the development of the
energy industry.
There will also be a prize
presentation to six winners in the BEnA essay-writing competition on
"Awareness in the Importance of Energy Conservation" held last April,
which was open to secondary school and college students between ages l
1 and 18.
