Yellow Pages Goes Online

Bandar Seri Begawan - GTE Directories will today launch its web directory www.yp.com.bn at the International ConventionCentre (ICC) Exhibition Hall in Berakas.

GTE Directories is the official publisher of the Brunei - telephone directory for Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru). The launching coincides with the `Majlis Kesyukuran' or `thanksgiving and loyalty to the monarch' ceremony that commences today and ends on August 19.

The launch is supported by Verizon of USA in collaboration with TelBru.

"Our missions are countless - one of them is to be a recognised leader in providing multimedia information services to customers and markets around the world in a speedier way," said GTE General Manager James Lee.

"We had a successful launch of the CD-ROM last year - a formulated tool of the print directory. Since the introduction of the first ever `e-Directory' CD-ROM, its usage has been increasingly popular across the nation.

"Needless to say, the Brunei Internet Yellow Pages www.yp.com.bn represents a milestone in the communication and advertising market, and also shows our continuous commitment in enhancing our services especially in the development of new products" he added.

"The new web directory is to underpin our Yellow Pages print hard copy. Essentially it will set out another search option for users apart from the CD-ROMS.

"`Hyper links' will be included in the advertisements of the Yellow Pages search to enable customers to communicate with the businesses or suppliers they are looking for," he said.

During the exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to try out the web directory and GTE representatives will be on hand to stage demonstrations on its functionality.

According to Mr Lee, a contest is on for all visitors to the new web directory. Attractive prizes await lucky winners who log on to the new directory. The grand prize is a Toyota Vios. Also up for grabs are return tickets to Darwin and Saigon, and electrical home appliances.

Visitors need only download the entry form, complete all questions and attach an original receipt of purchase (minimum $5) from any of the advertisers in the 2006/ 2007 Brunei Telephone Directory.

Completed entry forms and receipts should be dropped off at the box located at the GTE booth at the ICC Exhibition Hall between August 17 - 19.

Alternatively, they can be dropped off at the box at the reception counter of the Telbru headquarters between August 22 and September 11, or at the Telbru booth during the BICTA event at The Mall in Gadong from September 12 to 15.

The names of 20 winners will be announced at 3 pm on September 15. The winners will be notified by phone and their names will be published in the newspapers.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
