Extortion, Gambling, Assault Among Crimes Reported Last Week

Bandar Seri Begawan - An extortion leading to the arrest of a man, 'KatamKatam' gambling, five cases of causing injury to a person and three vandalism cases were reported last week, police said yesterday.

Other offences reported were the arrest of two men and a woman for drug abuse, and two immigration cases leading to the arrest of two foreign men and a woman.

Two car theft cases resulting in the loss of two weighing scales and two pipes were also recorded. Two cars, Nissan X-Trail and Mitsubishi Pajero, were also found missing.

Six thefts were recorded in Kg Mulaut, Tungku beach, Kg Sungai Asam-Jln Kasat, RBA Hangar, Mile 1 in Jln Tutong and Jln Sg Duhun. Items found missing were a cement breaker machine, a gas cylinder, a set of walkietalkie and a digital camera. Four teenagers were arrested in connection with these crimes.

Meanwhile, five theft cases inside a building were reported in Kg Subok, Kg Rimba national housing scheme, Kg Medewa, Jln Ong Sum Ping and Kg Salambigar. Items lost included a mobile phone, a bag containing clothes, several musical equipment and $210 cash.

As for road accidents, 26 cases were recorded with a 40-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and two suffering minor injuries. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
