PBA Squeeze Past Knight

Begawan - PBA All Stars of Philippines came out top to win
97-95 in an explosive encounter against SK Knights of Korea in the 5th
Shell Rimula Cup - Brunei Basketball Tournament at the National Indoor
Stadium, Berakas last night.
It was the PBA All Stars who started
the game brilliantly penetrating the Koreans' defence in the early
quarter.
The combination of No. 35 T. Dela
Cruz, No. 88 A.Taulava and No. 4 Rafi Reavis not only stopped the
Koreans from scoring but they also scored.
On the other side, the Korean No. 11
Cho Sang Hyun continued to prove his three-pointer ability sinking 9
three pointers and grabbed 34 points. Cho's teammate No. 32 Kim 11 Doo
also had a good performance scoring 23 points.
Kim and Cho didn't let their team
down sinking few three pointers to overturn the six points deficit to
lead 20-19 at the end of the first quarter.
The Koreans continued to dominate the
court in the second quarter. Knights' No. 33 Wesley Wilson wowed the
crowd with an alley loop dunk followed by a buzzer beater three-point
shot from Cho to end the second quarter leading 53-41.
After the breather, SK Knights were
handed a tougher task when they lost the tall centre Wilson who
committed his fifth foul in the early part of the third quarter.
PBA
took advantage of the situation and cut the deficit by just two pints
trailing 70-68 at, the end of the third quarter.
PBA
finally led for the first time in the fourth quarter through some fine
combinations between R. Adducul and A.Taulava.
PBA's
No. 14 R. Ritualo took his two free throws well with 10 seconds left
to lead 97-92 before Cho sank in the last 3-pointer in the game.
Tonight, PBA All Stars will play
against Alaska Aces at 8pm while Warriors will square off against
Shangdong Jinsidun Lions at 10 pm. --
