Tutong canteen operators attend health talk

A health talk for managers and operators of food canteens in the Tutong district was held at the meeting room of the Tutong District Office.

Awg Hj Azis bin Hj Nayan, Head of School Feeding and Hostel Section, Ministry of Education, stressed the importance of canteen owners and operators to ensure halal and good quality food was sold. The canteen operators must undergo a health examination and must also be Muslim, he added.

The Head Section for Community Nutrition Services, Ministry of Health, Dyg Hajah Masni bte Hj Ibrahim also delivered a talk.

She said that their Section had come across canteen operators who sold food that were not nutritious especially junk food, which must not be sold in any school canteens.

Present at the talk were officers from both Sections of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health. The talk ended with a question and answer session and an exhibition on the types of food allowed to be sold.
