Kilanas School Holds Khatam Al-Quran

Begawan - A Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was held at the PAP
Mejeedah Nuurul Bulqiah Religious in Kampong Kilanas recently. Present
as the chief guest was Dr Awang Zainal Ariffin Hj Awang Yahya, Special
Duties Officer at the Ministry of Health.
The ceremony is an annual project of
Islamic Studies Department of the Ministry of Education, which has
been organised by religious schools in the Sultanate for the past 20
years or so.
Among other things, the ceremony
aimed to instil the culture of reading al-Quran fluently, especially
for Primary Six students who will be completing their studies at the
religious school. The ceremony also aimed to enhance relationships
among the parents of the students and the school staff and teachers.
A total of 116 students, representing
the morning and afternoon school sessions, including 59 boys,
participated in the event. Dayang Hajah Norainah Hj Kula, the school
headmistress, noted that the number of participants has increased from
year to year. --
